This is a classic rich vanilla ice cream recipe that is creamy, indulgent and will of course go beautifully with a multitude of different desserts or can be enjoyed just as much by itself.
*You will require your own ice cream churn to make this recipe.
VANILLA ICE CREAM INGREDIENTS
- 700ml full cream milk
- 900ml thickened or heavy cream
- 1 cup white sugar
- 4 large egg yolks
- 3 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
INSTRUCTIONS
- Whisk the milk, yolks, sugar and pinch salt together in a saucepan over a medium-high heat until it begins to simmer gently (do not allow to boil).
- Lower to medium heat and whisk continuously for about 5 minutes, you should notice the mixture begin to thicken.
- Remove from heat and strain into large bowl, allow to cool to room temperature.
- When mixture reaches room temperature add the cream and whisk thoroughly to combine.
- Cover with cling wrap and chill in fridge for a few hours or overnight.
- Mixture can now be churned in your ice cream maker as per your usual method.
