The ubiquitous eggnog is a favourite holiday season beverage in many countries, it is not limited to festive occasions though. Traditionally eggnog is a chilled drink, most commonly made with sugar, dairy (milk or cream or both), eggs and traditionally some sort of alcohol. Those that do not partake in spirits can also make non-alcoholic variations.
Eggnog can be purchased in many stores for those that want a quick fix or do not have time to make it but arguably by far the best eggnog is made at home with fresh ingredients. Because commercial recipes tend to use gelatin and other thickeners in their recipes the difference in taste and quality between store bought and home made is rather distinctly in favour of home made.
Depending on preference; people will either make the drink with raw or semi-cooked (by using hot milk) eggs. The Mixed Tastes staff have collected a great selection of the best eggnog recipes here and are sure that one of them is likely to become your family's favourite!
